The History of our Library
On May 13, 1920, a group of citizens met to discuss the establishment of a public library. This meeting resulted in the formation of a library board of nine members with a yearly membership fee of fifty cents.
The library opened on December 11, 1920 with the hours: Tuesday 2 - 6pm and Saturday 2 - 6pm and 7 - 9pm. From this opening of the Marmora Public Library, the ladies of the Marmora Women's Institute were largely responsible for the successful continuance of the facility by conducting membership drives, in the early years, donating furniture, memorial books, and regular financial donations.
